Hours of Operation:
Monday
through Friday 10am to 9pm Saturday 10am till 7pm Sunday 11am till
6:30 PM Pacific Time
We are located
on the corner of Bristol Street & the 405 San Diego Freeway.
Coming north or south on the 405 exit Bristol & head north & turn
left into the parking lot out side of Sears Department Store & the
Claim Jumper restaurant. There is a large entrance to the mall
between the two & we are the second store on the left when you
leave the hall way next to Starbucks. Easy in & out!
PLAZA CUTLERY
Inc. is one of the finest cutlery stores in the world. We usually
receive all the new knives as soon as they are available and are
well stocked. Plaza Cutlery is family owned and operated by
Lois (my mother), Dan (myself), Russ (my brother), Pam (my
wife,) and my boys Bryan & Andrew. Our staff consists of full &
part time employees that are experts in swords, martial arts,
gourmet cooking, sharpening, old knives to modern custom knives.
Someone is always on hand or a phone call away for an answer.
Our family
background in cutlery goes back to about 1948. My father worked
for a major hardware distributor, which carried a large selection
of cutlery where he met my mother Lois. In August of 1959 Dad got
his dream job as a sales rep for W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery for
Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Las Vegas and El Paso
until his death in August of 1976. Dad was also a big Case
pocketknife collector but he loved all types of knives. After his
death my mother Lois took over his territory for a few years as
the first female sales rep for a major knife company. With the
successes of “Plaza Cutlery,” however, she needed to help me with
the store. We opened "Plaza Cutlery” in December of 1974, two
months after I got out of the Army. (For those of you who are
interested I was 11Delta “Armor Reconnaissance” in Germany, Dad
was a grunt in the Third Marine Division in WW2.) At the time we
opened our store there were very few cutlery stores in the USA.
Plaza Cutlery
has been copied but we have always tried to stay a step ahead. We
were among the first to carry “Custom Knives” and to produce an
all custom knife show, the “California Custom Knife Show” which
has been copied by all the other knife shows. We are now doing a
new “Custom Knife Show” that is different then our old show.
Watch this sight for updates as the next one is in 2006. Knife
companies have asked us for help in developing products and ways
to market them. Dan (myself) was also the driving force behind
forming “NICA” National Independent Cutlery Association made up of
members who are committed to the industry and not fly by night
outfits so you will have confidence in each member. My goal has
been to get good exclusive items for our association and special
collector items that will go up in value. As you can see we are
very involved in the cutlery industry.
We will keep this
site up to date the best we can. We can not be responsible for
mistakes as I always make them. We will do our best to keep them to a
minimum!
Thank you,
Dan Delavan |
