These are pictures from the 2004 Show

Well the show is over and the next one will be in October of 2006. Below are some pictures and will leave the information below for anyone new that is interested. It will give you a good idea of what to expect in two years. All collectors are welcome from anywhere in the world. Let me know and I will send you information when it is available!

Knifemaker Bill Ankrom explaining to collector Scott Pritchard and his son about one of his knives on the left and W. D. Pease with his back to the camera doing the same on the right.

This is Friday night during the browsing of the knives. Some makers and collectors are out on the deck eating while others are checking out the knives. This format also allows the makers to look at each others work. Sun has gone down so it is darker but earlier there was full light.

This is the Emerson drawing on Saturday morning. Pam Delavan talking to friend Paul Gleason in the fore ground.

Knifemaker Allen Elishewitz was very busy busy Saturday at the show. From what I heard he received 50 lashes for screwing up the paper work when he returned home from wife Valerie. Allen is now making pens which were a big hit!

This is something you do not see very often. Joel Chamblin 2nd to the left is explaining to Terry Davis (far left), Eugene Shadley (top center),  Richard Rogers (to his right with the hat), Ron Newton (lower right) and a friend of Ron's in the fore ground how to do the graduated checkering (starting small checkers and getting larger), penne work (gold studs on top of those checkering and how to groove the pearl around the edging! We can look forward to some exciting knives in the next few years as they put this information to use! From Saturdays show!

This is yours truly talking to Bertie Rietveld. Saturday the show is in the main ball room where there is plenty of room. Friday is kind of small but with the food out on  the open deck the people flow in and out. Brian Tighe to the right and Steve Rapp leaning on the table far right. Also Greg Lightfoot to the left!

For those of you who have never attended a "Custom Knife Show" you are in for a treat. This will be the opportunity to meet some of the worlds finest craftsman. The knife being one of the oldest tools known to man has developed from a sharp edge on a rock to a high-tech fine molecular structured piece of steel and also none steel edge. At the show you will see finely crafted gentleman and ladies pocket knives with inlays of pearl, jade, gold and other fine materials. You will also see hand forged blades pounded to shape, both historical and modern styles. The knife in the show flyer and news paper ad is an early San Francisco style knife which were made during the California gold rush.

There will also be knifemakers who make traditional pocket knives with multi blades again both historical and modern styles. Also there are some makers who make knives for our men in the military so there will be tactical folding and fixed blades.

All these knife makers are small one man shops. In some cases they may have an apprentice or another family member who also works with them. The exception is Chris Reeve who does make knives on his own, but also has a small company that makes very high quality knives that very much sought after. Each maker has a story to tell and all of them come from different back grounds. Some are former military, a minister, teachers and you get the idea. They all love the craftsmanship that goes into knife making and after you meet them you will appreciate what they do.

    We hope you can attend!
