Jim Davis Jim has only been making knives for 6 years. He caught Pam & my eye at the Guild show two years and this year we were looking forward to see what he would have. Unfortunately he had food poisoning real bad and was unable to attend. I just receives a box of knives from him and as soon as he gets me pricing will post them. There are seven of them. Pictures are done and will post them as I can. The group shot is of 4 consecutive serial numbered knives all with the same materials, just diffract sizes. The picture is for his catalog per his request. Jim is doing some larger knives now and also have one damascus! Jim's knives are very clean & precise. What is amazing is he does not use a grinder to bevel is blades. He uses files! He has a belt sander but just uses it for profiling so far. He also file fits the guard. Not many makers do that and Buster Warenski is the only maker I know who has always done it that way! Not bad company to be with! As you look at the knives the pictures will not do them justice. Everything fits really clean. Finishes are done perfectly even with no ripples or gaps. You will also notice the colors are very bright. Pretty impressive! And last but not least all the edges are finely finished & sharp! Most knives have grind marks on the cutting edges, these are finished just like the sides of the knife! Jim also uses12 ounce leather on his sheaths that are all hand stitched and wet-formed. They are as impressive as the knives and he puts them in a zipper storage case! I hope you enjoy them as much as I have! Update 4/5/07 Please note Jim has something similar to carpel tunnel syndrome so he will did not build any knives in 2006 and it does not look good for 2007 either.
