Rick Browne

Rick is another knifemaker I have known since around the late 70's! We have been friends and it was nice of him to take the time out to come down to the shop to deliver these new knives. He is now a full time knife maker as he did retire from McDonald Douglas.  Rick has specialized in integral fixed blades with some tutoring from Ted Dowell and then decided to give slip joints a try and has done very well and made that his main focus. He has one cover for Blade Magazine with his Sheffield Exhibition split back whittler which we did have one and it did sell. All of his bolsters and liners are one piece and he makes his knives slimmer then some of the other makers when he does 3 bladders. I know most knifemakers do not want the blades touching either the liner or another blade which makes the knife much thicker. Rick makes knives like the originals so on the 3 bladders they can touch the liners or possibly a blade in some cases. Not in all cases as they are really packed in there. His jack knives such as the gun stocks do not touch and each blade is perfectly centered. A different style of knife. Three bladders have easy springs with fair snap. You will not break your nail but the jack knives all have stronger springs. Again you will not break a nail but they are strong and have a good snap. For the money you can not beat Rick's work and quality. He gives you a lot for your money! He also hopes to open a knife making school but it sounds like it will be in the North East corner of California where Rick and D hope to retire. We will see on that one! Rick is always trying something new and the new English multi blades are now in stock!
